About Katherine
A Little Bit about Katherine
She was 17 years old, sitting at a lifeguard stand and watching over the public as they swam in the pool beneath her. Her heart warmed watching family and friends living in the moment, and she thought, “I want everyone to have this.” But to do that, she knew they needed a foundation of water safety.
Katherine believes that this foundation can be built upon, providing individuals with lifelong confidence in the water that leads to enjoyment of its therapeutic and social benefits.
Katherine began participating in swim competitions at seven years old, and she later became a pre-Olympic swimmer, City of San Diego lifeguard, and swim school instructor. After witnessing several water safety incidents throughout her over 25-year career, she learned firsthand that education and classes save lives.
Upon moving to Ramona, California, Katherine learned there were limited educational opportunities for swimming and water safety lessons. That’s when she decided it was time to transition from her career as a medical professional to fulfill the dream she imagined on that lifeguard tower years prior.
Katherine is excited to help neighbors expand their knowledge and skills without leaving Ramona, making this an affordable and convenient option, especially for families. She looks forward to helping students learn the basics so they can enjoy the possibilities of adventures, new experiences, and joy, no matter where life takes them.
– Katherine Koger, Owner and Instructor, Turtle Cove Aquatics
“The water is a beautiful, sacred space to learn to connect to oneself, find balance, and achieve many personal goals, the effects lasting even long after getting out of the pool.”
